Multilingual Learner Family Night and Reclassification Celebration (ELAC) - Thursday, May 23 at 6pm

We are hosting one of our favorite events this Thursday, our Multilingual Learner Family Night (ELAC). We value our diverse student population and this night is about celebrating our English Learner students. We invite ALL Helix parents and students to join us to learn more about our English Learner program, greet incoming students and hear from current and past students, including one of our recent grads, Nestor Navarro. He moved to San Diego from El Salvador a few years ago, and spoke no English. He is now flourishing at UC Merced and will share his experience. This is a casual, mixer-style event. We will provide a free catered dinner. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED HERE for food ordering purposes. This event will be held in the Helix library. Students and siblings are welcome to attend with parents/guardians.

Senior Boards - Revised Bell Schedule and Volunteers Needed - Tuesday, May 28 & Wednesday, May 29

Our Senior Boards, a required project for all graduating seniors, are happening on Tue, May 28 & Wed, May 29 and we are looking for parents and community members to help judge on the boards. You could join us for one day or both from 12:15 pm - 3:30 pm. Being a judge involves listening to seniors present on their high school experience and explain what is next in their lives. It's a great way to learn about our students and get involved at the school. We hope to include as many parents and community members as possible to provide a variety of perspectives and backgrounds on the panels. After checking in at the front admin office, judges will gather in the library, and we'll explain the project and its importance within our school culture and history. We'll go over what to expect and how the judging rubric works. Then we will head to different classrooms around campus to hear their presentations. If you are interested in participating, please RSVP here.

We will have a revised bell schedule on those days. Students not participating in Senior Boards may leave after 4th period or lunch.
