Senior Boards
As a graduation requirement, all seniors at Helix must participate in the senior presentation.
One of the many things that sets Helix apart from other schools, our senior presentation project is a great preparatory exercise before going out into the real world.
Each student must create a presentation for their speech, which focuses on their growth in our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes. They need to use evidence from their academic learning as well as community service and extracurricular activities to demonstrate their growth in the Learner Outcomes they choose. Students present to a panel of community and staff. This Helix tradition has proven to be extremely helpful for our students and we are proud to offer it.
Senior Board presentations:
Senior Boards will be held on Wednesday, May 21 & Thursday, May 22, 2025.
You will create an engaging narrative-style presentation that:
-
Tells the story of your personal growth through pivotal experiences that demonstrate your development in the Helix Student Learner Outcomes (SLOS).
-
Connects your journey to your future aspirations in college and career
Note: While your presentation should demonstrate growth in the SLOs, avoid simply listing how you met each outcome. Instead, tell a compelling story about your journey, naturally weaving in how these experiences helped you develop these important skills and qualities.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Length: 6–8 minutes
-
Presentation: Use shareable slides
-
Content: Describe up to three (more than that and you risk just listing experiences rather than telling about them) specific learning experiences that supported your academic and personal development in the SLOs, with evidence from:
-
Academic Experiences (ex: a challenging project or assignment, mid-high school reflection, CTE courses, dual enrollment, etc)
-
Extracurricular (ex: community service, sports/performing arts, clubs, ASPIRE)
-
-
Connections: Link your growth to specific SLOS and demonstrate your readiness for adult life
On your speech date:
You will go to your assigned room on the date you are given and present your speech. You will need to wear business professional attire and be ready to deliver a practiced, smooth speech that addresses the prompt. This IS a graduation requirement, so you need to show up and do your best!
