Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)

 

Helix Charter High School is committed to supporting the whole child - including emotional well-being, social-emotional learning, prevention, and connection to trusted adults in school. Students at Helix already receive wellness supports such as emotional check-ins, coping skills, prevention programs, and access to caring adults and safe spaces on campus. These supports help students feel connected, supported, and ready to learn. The CYBHI Fee Schedule helps ensure these services can continue long-term.

The Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Fee Schedule is a California state initiative that mandates health plans and insurers to reimburse public schools, including TK-12 districts, colleges, and universities, for providing eligible mental health, emotional wellbeing, and prevention supports to students under 26 years old. Through this program, Helix Charter High School can sustain and strengthen the wellness supports students already receive at no cost to families.

 

This work directly supports Helix LCAP Goal 1 of a Safe and Supportive School, ensuring every student has access to supports that strengthen their body, mind, relationships, and sense of community.

The CYBHI Fee Schedule helps fund a wide range of wellness and behavioral health supports that schools already provide, including:

All services are part of Helix’s Student Support and Wellness Center providers, ensuring that every student regardless of background or coverage has access to care and connection at school.

 

The funding that supports student wellness does not come from the school’s general budget and it does not come from families’ pockets.

 

All we need is your information and consent. By sharing your student’s health insurance information, you help Helix access state funding that keeps wellness supports strong and available for all students. Share your info. Strengthen student wellness support.

FAQs:

• No. There are no costs to families. State law prohibits health plans from passing on copays, deductibles, or bills.

• No, state law prohibits health plans from passing any costs to families. There will be no co-payments, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses for services provided under this program.

• Your child can still receive services. We can also connect you to Medi-Cal enrollment resources if you are interested.

• Your child will continue to receive all the services they are entitled to under an IEP or IFSP, whether or not you provide insurance information.

• TadHealth Services is Helix’s secure electronic health records and billing partner. They help us collect insurance information and consent for the CYBHI Fee Schedule in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.

• Yes. All information is collected through the secure TadHealth portal and stored in compliance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). Your information will only be used for billing purposes or as permitted by law.
