Helix Charter High School, located in La Mesa, California, has been proudly serving students and families since 1951. Originally founded as a traditional public high school, Helix made history in 1998 by becoming one of the first comprehensive public high schools in California to convert to charter status.
While our educational programs have evolved to meet the diverse needs of today’s students, our traditions, spirit, and commitment to excellence remain at the heart of who we are.
Helix is known for its strong academic programs, vibrant arts and athletics, and wide variety of student activities. As both a neighborhood school and a charter school, we continue to serve our local community while welcoming students from across the region who are drawn to the Helix experience.

It’s time to complete your student’s 2026–2027 Online Enrollment and schedule your mandatory Summer Conference!
Online Enrollment Opens:
- April 13, 2026 – Families with 2+ students
- April 16, 2026 – All Helix families
What to Do:
- Log into ParentVUE and complete Online Enrollment
- Schedule your student’s Summer Conference (after registration is processed)
- Attend your Summer Conference in June
Summer Conference Dates:
June 9–12 | June 15–18 | June 22–26 | June 29–30
7:20am - 3:00pm
Important:
Students are NOT officially enrolled until Online Enrollment is completed and the Summer Conference is scheduled. Missing your Summer Conference may delay or forfeit enrollment.
- Deadline to complete Online Enrollment: May 20, 2026
- Deadline to schedule Summer Conference: May 24, 2026

ASPIRE after school programs will follow a special schedule:
- All morning programs will run as usual.
- Afternoon ASPIRE programs are cancelled, except for the PM DEN, which will run from 1:30pm-3:30pm in Room 1340 and 1350 if needed.

Explore everything Helix has to offer, including Academics, Arts, Activities, and Athletics. Meet teachers, get your questions answered, and enjoy performances from our talented Helix Performing Arts students.
Students can also sign up for athletic teams, clubs, and service organizations, and get support at the Course Request Help Desk (Room 330).
