CELEBRATE 75 YEARS OF HELIX!

You’re invited to mark a major milestone with us! Join alumni, current Scottie families, staff, and neighbors for our 75th Anniversary Highland Games & Campus Picnic!

• Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
• Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Location: Helix Lower Fields (by the baseball & softball fields)

Event Highlights:

• Music & Culture: Grand opening by the Helix Pipe Band and performances by the Cameron Highlanders.
• The Highland Games: Watch our staff and student-athletes battle it out in traditional events like the Caber Toss, Stone Put, and Tug-of-War. Special guest competitors will be announced soon!
• Live Main Stage: DJ alongside MC Barry Jantz.
• Alumni Decade Tents: Reconnect with classmates under dedicated canopies for every decade, from the 1950s to the 2020s.
• 75th Anniversary Hub: Helix merch, vintage yearbooks, school history displays and more.
• Car Show: Featuring classic vehicles from the Over the Hill Gang & Kingpin Car Club.
• Optional Campus Tour: Take a guided walk through campus and hear how Helix has grown and evolved over the last 75 years! 
• Food Stands: Tony’s Fish & Chips and Taquizas Jose Taco Stand

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Highland Games? Traditional Scottish festivals celebrating Celtic heritage through heavy athletic competitions, music, and community gathering. Click here for a quick video explaining the Games.

Do I have to compete in the games? Nope, our students, staff, and select community groups will be doing the heavy lifting. All other attendees are invited to cheer them on as spectators. 

Will the games be traditional? The games will be the "junior" version to ensure a safe environment for participants and spectators.

Do I need to have a current Helix student to attend? No, this event is open to everyone—alumni, prospective families, neighbors, and supporters of all ages. Come one, come all to help us form a proper Highland Village!

Is seating provided? No, seating won't be set up on the lower fields, so please bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, or pop-up canopies to stay comfortable! We'll have a drop-off area right near the fields so you can unload your gear without hauling it from the parking lot.

Can I bring my own food? Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. We will also have food trucks on site if you'd like to purchase food.

Can children come? Yes, we will have lawn games and activities for children.

How can I connect with alumni from my class year? Stop by your decade’s canopy on game day!

Enrollment for the 2027–2028 school year opens on January 4, 2027, and closes on March 1, 2027. As a charter school, all prospective students must submit an online application at helixcharter.net/Enroll before the March 1 deadline.

Helix School Tours

Learn about the innovative programs that helped transform Helix from one of the district’s lower-performing schools into one of the top-rated high schools in the nation. Attending a tour is not required for enrollment, but it is encouraged for anyone wanting to learn more about our campus and academics.

• Registration: Space is limited, registration is required. [Click Here to Register].

• Special Education Tours: On select dates, our Director of Special Education will join the tour. While the general tour covers all of the same information, these sessions include a 15-minute Q&A at the end focused on IEP program details and support.  

• Spanish Language Tours: We are offering two dedicated Spanish tours on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 6:00 PM and Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 PM.
