Helix Charter High School, located in La Mesa, California, has been proudly serving students and families since 1951. Originally founded as a traditional public high school, Helix made history in 1998 by becoming one of the first comprehensive public high schoolsΒ in California to convert to charter status.

While our educational programs have evolved to meet the diverse needs of today’s students, our traditions, spirit, and commitment to excellence remain at the heart of who we are.

Helix is known for its strong academic programs, vibrant arts and athletics, and wide variety of student activities. As both a neighborhood school and a charter school, we continue to serve our local community while welcoming students from across the region who are drawn to the Helix experience.

Graduation - Thursday, June 4 at 6pm

We are excited for graduation on Thursday, June 4th at 6:00pm. A few reminders:

Rehearsal:
Graduation rehearsal is mandatory for seniors and will take place at 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026. Your student should plan to check in near the 1100 buildings with their walking partner at 7:45 a.m. Please have them wear sunscreen and hats, and bring water.

Graduation Check-In:
Graduation student check-in is at 4:30 p.m. in the Patient Care room (1160). Please have students carry their caps and gowns; they’ll put them on right before walking out. Students should not bring backpacks, bags or purses with them as there is not a place to store them. Students may not decorate their graduation caps.

Stadium Entrance:
Attendees may enter the stadium starting at 4:30 p.m. You must have a ticket to attend. Ages 3 and older need tickets. If you have a family member with mobility issues, make sure that your student requests the visitor’s side of the stadium for seating during rehearsal.

Parking:
The primary parking area—the large solar lot at 4200 Lowell St—will close once full, and it is expected to reach capacity quickly. We strongly encourage you to carpool, use ride-sharing services, or walk if possible. Additional overflow parking is available along Lowell Street, Highlander Way, and at The Hill Church (located at 7485 Orien Ave, just above the main parking lot).

Handicap Parking, Drop Off and Stadium Access:
Handicap parking is available in the staff parking lot located at 7323 University Ave. This is the best location for handicap drop off as this is the closest drop area to the stadium. Campus supervision will be available to assist with transportation for those that require assistance. Handicap seating is available on the visitor side of the stadium, and in the west end zone.

Graduation Leis:
The Helix PTSO is hosting a fundraiser selling graduation leis—click here to place your order.

After the Ceremony:
At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates will participate in a formal recessional off of the field. Please note that access to the field will not be permitted after the event. Designated photo areas will be available around campus for families and friends to take pictures with their graduates.

Diploma Pickup:
Students should stop by room 600 (by the pool) right after the ceremony to turn in their cap and gown and pick up their diploma. Diplomas will be available to pick up until 45 minutes after the end of the ceremony.

We will be live-streaming the event at this link. Please remember that balloons and artificial noisemakers (airhorns, etc) are not allowed in the stadium.
