Welcome
to the first student made tennis page dedicated to the Helix Women's
Tennis Team. This page was made to allow users to access information
about the Women's Tennis Team. Users will be able to access player
profiles, schedules, and match scores. Hopefully this page will
achieve its goal of sharing all the great accomplishments of the
Helix Women's Tennis Team with the world.
Helix
has always been proud of its performances for both academic and
extracurricular activities. The Helix Women's Tennis Team is no
different. This past year, under the leadership of Lois Sczepaniak,
the team held a modest record of 9-7 overall. The team started
off strong, but with some senior players dropping the team, there
were voids that had to be filled, and quickly. But several Junior
Varsity players stepped up to the challenge and filled those voids.
Under tremendous pressure to perform, they did a great deal to
contribute to the team's overall winning record. Although unable
to make it to Team CIF, this past year can be labeled as a success
for first time coach Lois Sczepaniak and the rest of the newly
formed team.
There
were also several individual accomplishments worth mentioning
this past year. Team Captain, Krystle Beal, dominated the league
in singles matches. She was able to make it to the finals in the
league tournament. The league tournament is an end of the year
tournament that all players in the league participate in to decide
the best players to go onto CIF. Although she was unable to win
championship for the league, she did win the leagues Sportmanship
Award. Sportmanship is much more important than skill. Among other
things, Krystle Beal was also able to win the Most Valuable Player
award and fought valiantly in her first round match at CIF, which
she unfortunately did not win. Regardless, she was an amazing
a player and captain. Other mentionable awards are Lilliana Rodriguez
for her Most Improved Player award. Also Jessica Kreuger for Sportmanship
Award for the team. These awards are passed out anually at the
end of the year banquet. The end of the year banquet is a get
together between parents, palyers, and coaches for a end of the
year culmination of the season. All players are invited along
with parents, another great experience that being a part of the
tennis team offers. Congratulations to all the award winners and
to the rest of the team for a most impressive 2003-2004 season.
Lets us hope for the best next year !
