FIRST STEP: Registering and Taking the Interest Profiler Survey:

1. Go to the eGuidance web site.
2. Under the Student Sign In box, click "Create a new portfolio."
3. To create your personal eGuidance portfolio:
   1. Enter the site code: 0011307
   2. Enter the password: helixcharter
   3. Portfolio name: first initial, last name, birth date (example: hbrown0815)
   4. Portfolio password: ID Number
   5. Secret question and answer: something you won't forget!
   6. Email: IDnumber@helixcharter.net
   7. Click "Create your portfolio now"
4. Under "Your Tools," click on "Choices Planner"
5. Under "Work," choose "Interest Profiler"
6. Work your way through the survey, answering how much you would enjoy each of the tasks.
7. After completing the survey, you will see "Your Top Interest Areas." At the bottom of this box, click: "Check out careers matching your interests."
8. To find out more about any of the careers, click on the career name. Find in-depth information by clicking on the tabs at the left-hand side.
9. You can save any of these careers to your portfolio by clicking on "Add to my portfolio" (upper right corner).
10. To find more career choices, click on the blue "Work" tab (top of page) and browse the Career Zones. Or, try the "Career Finder" exercise.

Using School Finder

1. From "Choices Planner," under "Learn," choose "School Finder"
2. Using the tabs to the left, (Key Facts, Tuition and Costs, Programs Offered, etc.) fill in your preferences for a college.
3. Remember: the more specific you are about what you want in a college, the shorter your list of colleges will be. If you don't have a preference in a category, just mark: "Doesn't matter."
4. When you're done, click "See your list of schools."
5. To find out more about any of the colleges, click on the college name.
6. You can save any of these college profiles to your portfolio by clicking "Add to my portfolio."

Using Your Portfolio

1. Choose the "Your Portfolio" tab from the top menu.
2. Choose "All About You" for: personal info, survey and skill test results, resume builders
3. Choose "Things You Saved" for : career and school profiles that you've saved
4. Choose: "Your Plans" to: create a career and college plan

From the "Work" tab, try the Career Zones or Career Finder
