FIRST
STEP: Registering and Taking the Interest Profiler Survey:
- Go to the
eGuidance web site.
- Under the Student Sign
In box, click "Create a new portfolio."
- To create your personal
eGuidance portfolio:
- Enter the site code:
0011307
- Enter the password:
helixcharter
- Portfolio name: first
initial, last name, birth date (example: hbrown0815)
- Portfolio password:
ID Number
- Secret question and
answer: something you won't forget!
- Email: IDnumber@helixcharter.net
- Click "Create
your portfolio now"
- Under "Your
Tools," click on "Choices Planner"

- Under "Work,"
choose "Interest Profiler"
- Work your way through
the survey, answering how much you would enjoy each of the tasks.
- After completing the
survey, you will see "Your Top Interest Areas." At the bottom of
this box, click: "Check out careers matching your interests."
- To find
out more about any of the careers, click on the career name. Find in-depth
information by clicking on the tabs at the left-hand side.
- You can
save any of these careers to your portfolio by clicking on "Add
to my portfolio" (upper right corner).
- To find
more career choices, click on the blue "Work" tab
(top of page) and browse the Career Zones. Or, try the "Career
Finder" exercise.
Using
School Finder
- From "Choices
Planner," under "Learn," choose "School Finder"
- Using the tabs to the
left, (Key Facts, Tuition and Costs, Programs Offered, etc.) fill in your
preferences for a college.
- Remember: the more specific
you are about what you want in a college, the shorter your list of colleges
will be. If you don't have a preference in a category, just mark: "Doesn't
matter."
- When you're done, click
"See your list of schools."
- To find out more about
any of the colleges, click on the college name.
- You can save any of these
college profiles to your portfolio by clicking "Add to my portfolio."
Using
Your Portfolio
- Choose
the "Your Portfolio" tab from the top menu.
- Choose
"All About You" for: personal info, survey and skill test results,
resume builders
- Choose
"Things You Saved" for : career and school profiles that you've
saved
- Choose:
"Your Plans" to: create a career and college plan
