Message from the PTSA Legislation ChairTo our Helix Families: As you may be aware, the State of California still does not have a budget. As our legislators in Sacramento continue their debates, funding for education is at risk of being drastically cut. PTA continues, both at the local and state levels, to work to ensure there will be appropriate funding for our student’s education. Please click on the letter below from the President of the California State PTA for additional information. Larry Loschen, Helix PTSA Legislation Chair AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL CALIFORNIANS FROM PAM BRADY, PRESIDENT OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE PTA Message from the PTSA PresidentVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES! 1. The District is starting a telephone bank in support ofproposition U, the Grossmont Union High School District facilities bond issue. This bond will have a tremendous impact on Helix if passed. We will be working on Thursday nights from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm making phone calls from the Campaign HQ at 8681 La Mesa Blvd. We need a total of 15 volunteers starting this Thursday and each following Thursday for the next 6 weeks. Your assistance in this matter is extremely important as it will affect Helix directly...so please give a few hours to help us with making the call! If you can help -- all you need to do is show up at the above address and they'll put you to work! 2. Football Home Games. We need volunteers in both the visitor and home concession stands, as well as ticket booths. We had a nice turn out last time, but let's make a better showing this time! Please coordinate with John Gillihan at helixptsa@helixcharter.net if you can help us! 3. Be a part of the after-football stadium clean up team starting at 7:00 am after each home game. WE NEED YOUR HELP! The more people, parents and students, we can get there...the fast the work will go. Your assistance at this event helps us raise money for our PTSA - which goes directly to our students...so please come out and help! Robert Yslas, Jr.
