Helix Wellness Center Danielle Yee and Lorena Fernandez (619) 644-1940 x227 and x395 The Helix Wellness Center is staffed by 2 School Social Workers Danielle Yee, PPSC/LCSW and Lorena Fernandez, PPSC/LCSW and Social Work Interns from SDSU School of Social Work. We are located in the Old Administration Building on the North end of campus. What is the Helix Wellness Center? A safe and caring place for you or your friends or family members, because we all hit rough spots in the road and we don't have to walk alone. But what can we do? A School Social Worker is a trained mental health professional who provides services related to a student’s social & emotional adjustment to school, family, community, & society. Our goal is to promote and support students’ academic and social success. We collaborate with students, parents, teachers and school personnel to assess each student’s level of need and refer them to appropriate services. But what exactly does that mean? We don't do therapy. But we talk with you, and often with other people that matter to you. We try to figure out what's going on and what can best help the situation, whether it's helping you or family members problem-solve around a crisis or communication, or figuring out what's out there in the community that can truly help you or your family.
