Structure, Size & Time

Quarter System (4X4)

Allows Helix to have smaller class size than the district schools with tradtional scheduling and provides concentrated work for students who usually take only three academic classes per quarter. The time frame for classes is now 90 minutes and each teacher only teaches three classe per term.

Intersession

Helix provides additional days at the end of each quarter. These days are designed for students to remediate standards before moving on into the next quarter or term.

Registration

Helix students register for classes over the summer. Students and their parents meet with their counselors. This allows the parents to take an active role in determining their children's educational path through Helix. For more information, contact the Vice Principals' office to be directed to the proper grade level team contact.

If you do not legally live within the boundaries set forth by the Grossmont Union High School District, the District in which Helix belongs, Helix’s “lottery” system is the only way for entrance to Helix. more
