What is a Grade Level Team? (GLT)

Grade-Level Teams were created at Helix to support students, parents, and teachers as the student journeys through his/her high school years. Grade-Level Teams are administrative teams designed to create four smaller communities of learners and their supports.

o GLTs organize students and support personnel into small learning teams. Helix has created teams by grade level.

o GLTs meet weekly to define goals, discuss student issues, discuss intervention programs and analyze the data from these programs.

o Helix has a long tradition of teachers working collegially in many disciplines. GLTs add guidance and administration to the discourse.

o Students are less likely to fail if enough attention is paid to them and their concerns.

o The GLT team is accountable to all students at their grade to help ensure student success both in the classroom and in life preparation.

o Each team created different SMART Goals to better the life and future of its students. Goals met will be quantified with supportive data showing improvement in Attendance, Behavior or Achievement.
